Start : Kapas Island, Terengganu

Finish : Pantai Peranginan Kelulut, Terengganu

Distance : 6.5km Open Sea Swim

Limit : 450 swimmers only

 

 


 

Registration Fee
Individual - RM100.00

All participants are required to register online with full payment made.
No 'on the spot' entry will be entertained.

 

Each participant will receive:

  • One-way boat transfer from Marang Jetty to Kapas Island
  • Luggage bag tag
  • Swim cap

 

Finishers
All finishers will receive:

1) Finisher T-shirt

2) Finisher medal

3) Certificate of completion


T-shirts sizes are limited. Therefore, distribution will be carried out on first come first serve basis.


There will be snack served at the finishing area for all participants.

Important Note:
Age count is based on year of birth. Eg. your date of birth is 26 Aug 1993, your age is 25 years and your entry category is 25 - 46 years group.

Age below 12 years or born in year 2006 and after, will not be allowed to enter the race.

 

Terengganu Close

All Terengganu born participants (Male/Female) are entitled to TERENGGANU CLOSE category automatically. All these participants must confirm the race secretariat by showing your IC as a proof.

Event Day Info

 

Registration & Race Pack Collection
Date : 21 April 2018, Saturday
Time : 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Venue : Marang Jetty

Each participant will receive:
1. One-way boat transfer from Marang Jetty to Kapas Island
2. Luggage bag tag (2 pcs)
3. Swim cap

Note : Dinner and Breakfast are NOT inclusive in the package.

Registration counter will be opened from 10.00am and closed at 2.00pm sharp. For those participants who will be arriving late, shall contact the organiser in advance (by email or phone) and collect your race pack at Kapas Island on 22 April 2018 morning during body marking. All participants are required to sign an Indemnity Form and hand over to race officials upon registration.

 

One-Way Boat Transfer (Marang Jetty to Kapas Island ONLY)

Date : 21 April 2018, Sat             Time : 11.00am – 2.30pm
Date : 22 April 2018, Sun            Time : 6.00am

Boat transfer (1-way) from Marang Jetty to Kapas Island is inclusive in the race pack for all participants. Participants are required to present the boat transfer coupon to the boat operator upon boarding. Those who arrive late will have to make their own arrangement to the island at their own cost. Organiser will NOT bear any additional cost for late comers.

All supporters are required to purchase the boat transfer coupon at coupon counter at Marang Jetty. The price is RM25.00 per way per person.

 

Race Briefing

Date : 21 April 2018, Sat             Time : 1.30pm (1st session)           Venue : Marang Jetty

There will be two sessions of race briefing by Race Director. All participants are required to attend the Race Briefing session.

 

Body Marking & Reporting

Date : 22 April 2018, Sun             Time : 6.30am – 7.30am

All participants are required to get their body marked and report to the race officials in the morning before race starts. Body marking will start at 6.30am – 7.30am, Kapas Island.
Participants shall NOT apply any body lotion / oil / sun block before body marking. Participants also shall NOT do their warm up / wet their body before body marking. This will enable the body marking process to be smoothly run.

 

Race Start and Cut-off Time

Date : 22 April 2018, Sun             Time : 8.00am

All participants are required to assemble at the beach in front of Kapas Island Resort by 7.45am. Race flag off at 8.00am sharp.

Cut-off time is 4 hours which is 12.00noon. For those participants who are still in the water after the cut-off time, safety officials will remove them out of the water due to safety measure. Swimmers are required to cooperate with the safety crew for safety reason.

 

Prize Presentation Ceremony

Date : 22 April 2018, Sun             Time : 12.30pm

Prize presentation ceremony will be held at finishing area (Pantai Peranginan Kelulut) at 12.30pm follow by snack for all participants.

Top 5 results will be displayed at the finishing area. Only top 3 winners will receive their prizes on the stage. The rest of the winners will have to collect their prizes at the Prize Counter located near the secretariat tent.

 

Safety Boat/Kayak

There will be safety officials along the entire 6.5km course to ensure safety of all the participants. The safety kayaks will provide drinking water for participant who needs drink. Participants are required to raise their hands to request for drink.

There will be inflatable balloons along the 6.5km approximately every 500m.

**Did Not Finish**

Participants who gave up or did not finish the race MUST report to any of the Race Officials near the finishing line and MUST NOT cross the finishing line. There will not be any medal or finisher T-shirt for those who did not finish.

 

Safety Buoy

Participants who will be using safety buoy device MUST report to the Organiser before the race. Participants using any safety buoy device will not be entitled to winning any prizes (in the Top 5). Wetsuit is strictly NOT allowed. Finisher T-shirt, medal and certificate will be given.

   

 

Baggage Deposit/Drop-off/Pick-up

All participants who wish to get their bags transferred to the finishing area will have to place their bags at a designated area. Each bag has to be tagged with the luggage bag number tag provided by the organiser.

 

Toilet and Shower Facilities

Shower facilities are available near the finishing area at Pantai Peranginan Kelulut. There is a public toilet nearby too. A small fee is required.

 

Snack

Snack will be served near the finishing area after prize presentation ceremony.

Terms & Conditions of Participation

Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions of Entry must be agreed by all swimmers intending to compete in the Kapas Marang International Swimathon 2018. Entry will not be considered final until the participant has indicated that agreement as evidenced by their electronic (as part of the registration requirements) or actual signature.

In consideration of, and as a condition of acceptance, my entry in the Kapas Marang International Swimathon 2018 (the Event) for myself, my heirs, successors and assignees:

1. I hereby agree to the following terms & conditions of my participation in this event.
2. I acknowledge and agreed that my participation in the Event is entirely voluntary on my own.
3. I have read, understood and accepted the Rules and Regulations applicable to the Event.
4. I have been made fully aware of, and fully understand and acknowledge the risks involved in my participation in the Event. I accept full responsibility and assume all such risks.
5. I hereby represent and warrant undertake to Organisers the following with full knowledge that they shall be relied upon in accepting my participation:-
     a. My personal particulars disclosed herein are correct;
     b. I have no medical condition that would affect my safety and physical well being arising from my participation in this Event and that I am medically and physically fit and competent to participate in the Event;
     c. I shall dutifully and fully abide by the Rules and Regulations of this Event and any applicable laws.
6. I confirm that the representations, warranties and undertakings above are true and correct and I (and my heirs, successors and assignees) shall waive, release, discharge you from any  claim and undertake that I (and my heirs, successors and assignees) shall not make any claim or complaint whatsoever against the Organisers for any loss or damage or injury sustained by me, or for my death arising from, during or after the Event.
7. Further, I (and my heirs, successors and assignees) shall indemnify and hold the Organisers harmless from any claim, demand, proceeding, cost, expense, liability, loss or damage (whether direct or consequential) made by any third parties, arising from any injury or death or damage or loss to any property arising out of my breach of the representations, warranties and undertakings under Clause 5 herein. PROVIDED always that the Organisers shall be entitled in your sole and absolute discretion to disqualify me/us from the Event if I shall breach any of the representations, warranties and undertakings herein in any way whatsoever.
8. I declare to the best of my knowledge that I do not suffer from any of the following pre-existing medical conditions:
     a. Any cardiac or respiratory weakness or ailment;
     b. Epilepsy or any other neurological condition;
     c. Any orthopaedic or rheumatological complaint; or
     d. Any other complaint or condition which would involve a serious risk to any physical or mental health by my participation in the Event.
9. For the avoidance of doubt, in consideration of you accepting my entry into the Event, I hereby confirmed my agreement to waive any claim (to the extent permitted under the laws of Malaysia) which I (any of my heirs, successors and assignees) may otherwise be entitled to bring against the Organisers or your agents, employees, sponsors or contractors arising in any way our of my participation in the Event, including without limitation, any of the following:
     a. Any injury, illness or death caused by or associated with my participation in the Event;
     b. Any fainting or other physical or nervous reaction to alarm, shock or fright suffered during the Event, whether such reaction manifests itself either during or at any time after the Event; or
     c. The need for hospitalization or any form of paramedic or out-patient care which may arise from (a.) or (b.) above.
10. I accept that all the judges’ decisions with regards to the Event are final.
11. No person who is not a party to this Waiver shall have any right to enforce any of the terms herein.
 
Waiver
I wish to enter this event and hereby agree to abide strictly by the terms and conditions. In consideration of the acceptance of my entry, I, my heirs, successors and assignees, do hereby unconditionally waive and release the Organisers, their sponsors, all officials, persons and agencies involved in this Event, from all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, cost, expenses and whatsoever, that may arise from my participation, including without limitation. I also certify that I am physically fit and sufficiently trained to participate in this Event.

By registering for this event, I accept Terms and Conditions and Waiver above.

Rules & Regulations

General

  • Participants who completed the Online Registration agreed to abide by the rules and regulations of the event that has been signed up. 
  • The Organiser reserves the right to limit, accept or reject any entries without assigning any reasons thereof. 
  • All participants are required to complete the Online Registration form with accurate and correct information. 
  • Once the registration is being processed, there will be no refund for those who fail to show up for the race and/or withdraw from it.
  • The race registration will only confirm when full payment of the race entry fee has been made.
  • Race category or race entry is not transferable.
  • Strictly NO CHANGES of name and race category after registration is completed. Please ensure your name and race category are correct before submitting.
    On-the-spot entries will NOT be entertained.
  • Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organiser to ensure the participants' safety, participants partake in this event at their own risk and the Organiser shall not be liable for any bodily injuries, loss and/or damage to property, whether personal or otherwise, and howsoever arising.
  • Any dispute or protest against another participant or any violation in the Event shall be made in writing to the Organiser within 30 minutes of her/his finish time. A deposit of RM500 must be accompanied with the appropriate protest form. The deposit will be refunded if the protest is successful.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to use any photographs or recordings of the participants for any commercial or advertising purposes for any commercial advertising including legitimate purpose.
  • The Race Director/Organising Committee decision is final. 
  • All participants should pick up their Race Packs and Goodie Bag on the On-Site Race Registration Day which has been designated.
  • Participants can appoint a friend to collect their Race Packs should they are not able to be present personally.
  • There will be a Race Briefing conducted by the Organiser. First timer is encouraged to attend. 
  • Participants are required to be body marked by the Race Officials. Kindly check the time schedule for body marking. Participants shall NOT apply any body lotion / oil / sun block before body marking. Participants also shall NOT do their warm up / wet their body before body marking. This will enable the body marking process to be smoothly run.
  • A grace period of 15 minutes after the commencement of the race will be given for latecomers. Anyone who reports later than this grace period will not be allowed to participate in the race. Latecomers should be aware that their timings would have commenced when the race begins.
  • A participant may be disqualified for the following reason(s):
  • (a) Refusing to follow the rules and regulations and /or instructions given by the Organiser and/or Race Officials.
  • (b) Consumption of alcohol, stimulants or any kind of prohibited drugs 24 hours before the race.
  • Any participants decided to withdraw from the race should report to the Race Officials.

Swimming

  • All swimmers must wear the swim caps provided by the Organiser.
  • All swimmers are required to wear proper swimming attire during the entire swimming course. Lycra swimsuits or skinsuits are allowed in this competition.
  • Fins, paddles, pool buoys, snorkels, life jackets or any swimming aids are not allowed.
  • Wetsuits are not allowed.
  • Support crews are not allowed. Any assistance received during the swim will result in immediate disqualification (with the exception of medical aid).
  • No one is permitted in the swim course other than the participants and officials.
  • Swimmers in difficulty shall signal the safety boat/kayak for assistance.
